General Notes

• this species has been cultured since many years
• several new culture stocks have been imported over the years
• 2006 - I have distributed this species as Pseudosermyle phalangiphora to other breeders

• Greenhills (Belmopan, Belize)

Females

• body length wild caught specimens  81 - 85 mm
• body length captive bred specimens 83 - 93 mm
• typical stick insects
• brown, some specimens may be a bit greenish
• no wings, long antennae

Males

• body length wild caught specimens  60 - 70 mm
• body length wild captive bred specimens 65 - 67 mm
• thin, brown
• no wings, long antennae
• they have two small, blunt warts just above their eyes
• big, claper-like ceri

Eggs

• about 2 x 3 mm
• dark brown
• surface is roughly structured and not shiny

Breeding Notes

• easy to breed
• incubation on damp (not wet) sand
• incubation time (at room temperatures) is about 3-4 months
• nymphs are green
• keep nymphs and adults in an airy cage
• males take about 3 months to mature, females about 4 months
• during the day, adults are almost never on their food plant but on the sides of the cage
• a wet paper towel on the floor provides enough humidity
• females start to lay eggs about 2 weeks after their final moult
