There is not just one way how to breed phasmids successfully
Breeding conditions that prove to be of value for one breeder might not really lead to the road of success for another breeder. This can be traced back to the very complex interplay between all the different microclimatic factors at work. And this interplay is not really understood even by experienced breeders. These factors vary greatly from breeder to breeder

some microclimatic factors are:

  • intensity of light, duration of illumination
  • humidity
  • air movement and exchange in  the breeding room itself
  • ventilation of the breeding cages
  • course of temperature during the day and the year
  • materials the cages are made of
  • cleanliness
  • food plants and how often they are being replaced
  • water (chlorine or other pollutants)
  • disturbances caused by the breeder himself (e.g. living in the same room)

........ and certainly there are more

Therefore it is best to keep an open mind, and allow yourself to try out something new from time to time. In this spirit the following descriptions may serve as an inspiration
